Chief Edward Mann serves as the Director of Training and Education for Provident Insurance, where has started his employment in 2015 as Regional Director. Ed also serves as a volunteer for the Responder Safety Network, a Pennsylvania State Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Everyone Goes Home program, and an Advisory Council member for the First Responder Center for Excellence. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services Institute and is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Eastern Division, Safety, Health, and Survival (SHS) Section, and the Volunteer Combination Officers (VCO) Section. He is also a member of the Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA) and numerous local and regional organizations throughout Pennsylvania.

Ed began his career in the fire service as a member of the Logan Fire Company in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, in 1977. He then pursued a career in the United States Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist, serving until his retirement in 1994. Ed served in a variety of positions in the Air Force, ranging from Firefighter to Deputy Chief.

In 2019, as the Fire Chief, Ed led the East Derry Volunteer Fire Company through a merger with Highland Park Hose Company in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. As of January 1, 2019, the Chief Logan Volunteer Fire Department began their operations as a result of the merger.

Ed retired as the Fire Chief of the Chief Logan Volunteer Fire Department in December of 2021.

Prior to working for Provident, Ed served four Pennsylvania Governors as the State Fire Commissioner for almost 15 years, receiving several national awards for efforts to reduce line of duty deaths.

Ed is certified as an Airport Firefighter, Fire Inspector 2, Fire Instructor 3, Fire Investigator 2, and Fire Officer 3 through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. He has worked as a Local Level and Adjunct Instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy since 1987 and was awarded Instructor Emeritus status in 2016.

Ed is married to the former Nanette Adams. They have two children, two grandchildren, and live in Lewiston, Pennsylvania.
